1 : being perplexed or disconcerted -- the confused students
2 : INDISTINGUISHABLE -- a zigzag, crisscross, confused trail -- Harry Hervey
3 : being disordered or mixed up -- a contradictory and often confused story
I like "mixed up" in particular.
