Maybe they'd have to hold each other when it rose, all organe and full and close. Maybe that's where our romantic notions about the moon first came from. Two people holding each other to keep their hearts from breaking, because everybody they knew was dying in the cold rocks and dust piles a quarter million miles away...

Good heavens. I thought I'd post a blog at 4:30 am just to see how the brain functions at this hour. Apparently, the words flow out reasonably well, but they don't make a whole lot of sense. I know there's a name for a particular disease that has that effect; it's caused by brain damage to particular regions in the brain. But that of course, is neither here nor there.
In general, I despise tough questions that force you to decide between two or more difficult options. My least favorite is the all too typical "Which sense would you prefer to do without?" Usually it comes in the form of "Would you rather be deaf or be blind?" Of course the answer is neither, you idiot. Why do you ask such questions? Tonight though, it was proved to me quite - quite - decisively that I most assuredly could not possibly live without any of my five senses. Sight is for reading and writing; touch is for feeling soft velvety things; smell is for the wonderful scents that invoke wonderful mental images; hearing is for music, which of course is essential to dance; and taste is for desserts like whipped cream and chocolate milk. The Lord clearly knew what He was up to when He decided that humans needed five senses to fully appreciate the physical world. Truly I am blessed, for I have the gift of enjoying all five.
Thank you. You have made me exceptionally happy. :)
