Here's an interesting thought.

Your entire relationship with someone could be encapsulated digitally on a single file on a computer.

That seems intensely tragic to me, like somehow it reduces a meaningful, multi-layered interaction into a series of flipped bits, with a finite beginning and end. My entire relationship is a single document. How can that possibly capture the depth of emotions and range of events that happened over that time?

But then again, how is that any different than a handwritten journal? The visual of empty pages is a comfort, whisperings of things to come, blank pages of hope. There's simply no digital equivalent.

Just mulling on that for a while.
