Little Bits of a Little Bit's Life

Maybe they'd have to hold each other when it rose, all organe and full and close. Maybe that's where our romantic notions about the moon first came from. Two people holding each other to keep their hearts from breaking, because everybody they knew was dying in the cold rocks and dust piles a quarter million miles away...

Today is hideous. It's the most God-awful, horrendous, gross, and evil day I've spent in Oslo. Its existence is an effrontery to everything that is summer: warmth, sun, blue sky, smiles, fruit, etc. It is the nemesis of all that which makes me happy. The rain in pouring down in torrents, and the sky is so dark that there's no reason to believe it's daytime and not nighttime except that the clock reads 13:00. These sorts of days are strictly reserved for the winter season, or for one-day spurts to relieve a long summer. However, neither of these conditions have been met. It has been cloudy since I have been in Oslo, save two and a half weeks. I feel as though I've been mobbed of my God-given right to a proper summer. I am extremely thankful that I will be heading to the northern Italian coast in two weeks, where the weather is predicted to be sunny and highs in the 90s. When I get back to Stanford, I hope that summer will be in full swing, and there will not be an early winter this year. I will be sorely upset if that turns out to be the case. I need my sunshine! Summer is not meant to be rainy and cloudy! I did not come to Oslo with the expectation that I would move straight from winter in California to winter in Oslo - I expected summer somewhere in between, dammit!
